These are the most perfect chocolate chip cookies – soft, chewy, and loaded with chocolate chips! Does it get any better than that?
Chocolate chip cookies are household favorites, a definite classic, and the best late night snack with a glass of milk! Everyone has a favorite recipe for chocolate chip cookies, or a favorite store bought brand. Well this recipe is by far my favorite, and super simple to make! This recipe takes minutes to throw together. It does however, require some refrigeration time before baking.
When baking, you always want to use room temperature ingredients, unless it is otherwise stated (i.e. cold butter). By using room temperature ingredients, it helps to combine your ingredients more adequately, thus delivering a more perfect baked good. But sometimes, when you get that craving for chocolate chip cookies, and your butter is still in the fridge – here is a little trick: cut your butter into small chunks and let it sit out on the counter for about 30 minutes. This will equate to the perfect room temperature butter. Also, let your egg sit out while your butter is coming to room temperature.
So let’s talk about the dough – Once you combine all the ingredients, it is imperative that you chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to avoid flat cookies. I also try to shape taller cookies with the dough when preparing to bake. I use a mini ice cream scoop to measure out the dough, and then shape the dough to be more of an oval shape rather than round. This allows for a fuller, thicker cookie. While I wait for the oven to preheat, I put the cookie sheet with the cookie dough back into the fridge. Once preheated, put it in the oven. I bake mine for 9-11 minutes. Usually more towards the 9 minute mark. They will look like they are not cooked all the way through, but once they set, it makes for a softer, chewier cookie. If you like more of a crisper cookie – go with the 11 minutes.
Seriously, this is the easiest and most delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe. I’m convinced that this will be your new go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe, too!
What’s better than chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk? I can’t think of too many things! SO YUM.
