These Honey Sriracha Meatballs are spicy, sweet, and so filling! They are easy to throw together and are perfect for a healthy meal prep!
I love Sriracha. It’s definitely one of my favorite sauces ever. It’s funny, because up until a few years ago, I would have never thought that I would like Sriracha. I used to never like spicy foods or sauces. But my family loves spicy, so I have slowly warmed up to spicy things. And now I love it, and even crave it sometimes.
I’ve talked before about meal prepping before. It really helps me during the week. I hate trying to figure out each night what I’m going to take for lunch the next day. So meal prepping makes it very easy for me. I like to make batches of food on Sunday afternoons and put them in these meal prep containers for lunches during the week. It’s just so easy – grab and go. And plus, I am not spending money on expensive lunches during the week (saving money is always great), and I can also control the amount of calories and how things are cooked/prepared when I make it myself, which is nice.
So let’s talk about this recipe.
Honey Sriracha Meatballs. These meatballs are glazed with a delicious and homemade Honey Sriracha sauce. It has the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. I like to glaze the meatballs with the sauce rather than saturating them because it helps to keep the overall calories a little lower, but if you want more sauce, feel free to double the sauce recipe! My husband is a sauce lover, so he likes more sauce.
How to make these meatballs
I like to use turkey for these meatballs, but you can certainly use ground beef or ground chicken.
Add all of the meatball ingredients to a large bowl, and then mix them up with your hands (your best tools). Roll them into balls, and then place them on a cookie sheet lined with foil. And then bake the meatballs.
While the meatballs are baking in the oven, make the sauce. The sauce is made of Sriracha, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, vinegar, sesame oil, and honey. Add all of these ingredients to a saucepan, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Once your meatballs are finished baking, toss the sauce with the meatballs – I do this in a large bowl so that I can get them evenly coated.
What’s great about this sauce recipe is that it’s homemade, and doesn’t have ingredients that you have no clue as to what they are and it doesn’t have all of those preservatives that store bought sauces have.
How to meal prep these Honey Sriracha Meatballs
I like to put 4 to 5 meatballs in a container with brown rice, garlic rice, or cilantro-lime rice. I put about a half of a cup of rice into each meal prep container with the meatballs. You could also use quinoa if you didn’t want to use rice. You can also add more veggies if you would like. I add a little lime slice to squeeze over my rice, some sesame seeds on the meatballs and top it all with some more green onions. Delish.
This is such a filling and healthy meal. I get so excited when I have this for lunch.
