This Green Detox Smoothie is healthy fuel for your body! It also helps to usher out toxins in the body. And bonus – it’s super delish and only has 5 ingredients!
I’ve talked about detox smoothies before, and I love them. Not only do they make me feel good, I enjoy drinking them. I’ve always thought of detox as being something that would be uncomfortable or unappetizing. But when you drink these smoothies, they are a tasty and natural way to help your body detox.
I love this green smoothie. It is similar to my other detox smoothie that I posted, except that this one does not have berries in it and this one also has a tangerine (or an orange). This smoothie has more spinach, but it doesn’t taste bitter at all because the pineapple cuts through it and gives the smoothie a natural sweetness.
I add chia seeds to all my smoothies. They have a ton of health benefits. You can buy a bag of chia seeds, and it will last you forever! Chia seeds expand once they are immersed in liquid. So in essence, once you drink your smoothie, the chia seeds will expand in your stomach, thus keeping you fuller longer – and making you less likely to grab an unhealthy snack. Some people soak them before they add them to smoothies – I do not. I like to just throw everything into the blender and go. Feel free to do whatever you would like though!
I like to make these for breakfast because it gives me a natural energy boost! And I get some amazing nutrients at the very beginning of my day!
The Health Benefits From the smoothie ingredients
Banana. We all know that bananas are loaded with potassium – which helps manage heart health, and blood pressure because potassium helps sodium to leave the body when you pee. Bananas also are high in folate, niacin, vitamin C, and pectin – a soluble fiber believed to help lower cholesterol.
Spinach. Spinach is considered a “superfood” loaded with tons of nutrients but has very little calories. Spinach contains protein, iron, vitamins A and C, and minerals. It helps to fight off osteoporosis, heart disease, and arthritis.
Pineapple. Pineapple contains vitamin C, B1, potassium and manganese. Pineapple also contains an enzyme called bromelain, which helps to improve digestion and cleanse the colon.
Tangerine or Orange. Tangerines and oranges are good for your skin, bones, and are believed to have anti-aging effects on the body. They contain fiber, folate, potassium, and vitamin C.
Chia Seeds. Chia seeds are a super food rich in fiber, omega-3 fats, protein, vitamins (vitamins A, B, E and D) and minerals. Chia seeds are believed to facilitate the skin’s repair systems and are also believed to have anti-aging effects on the body. Chia seeds also expand which keeps you fuller longer.
Throw all of the ingredients into a blender (I use a Ninja!) and blend. That’s it! So much (natural) detoxifying goodness. It will do the body good. Plus, it’s super delicious.
Beautiful green goodness! Hope you try this smoothie!! Your body will thank you.
