These Rice Krispie Treats are simply melt-in-your-mouth-perfection.
Oh, how I love rice krispie treats! There is something so nostalgic about them. They just remind me of my childhood.
Rice Krispie Treats are perfect for a treat for a baby shower, for a kid’s birthday party, for any sort of get together or for just a sweet treat! They come together quickly, are no bake, and only have a few ingredients – it really doesn’t get any better than that! I randomly make these and my husband just loves them. They are such a great little treat that isn’t too sweet.
One thing that I have learned about making rice krispie treats – definitely have your heat on low while melting your marshmallows. I know that all recipes for rice krispies say that, but seriously keep the heat on low. It takes a little longer to make these treats with the heat on low, but it makes all the difference in the world, trust me. If you don’t have the heat on low, your rice krispie treats will come out hard as a rock. Promise. I, too, thought why would it matter? If the marshmallows are melted, why would it matter how quickly I melted them? Well, trust me friend, it matters. I had to throw out an entire batch one time – they were hard as a rock because I tried to melt the marshmallows too quickly.
So low and slow is the name of the game. I use a dutch oven, but you can certainly just use a larger stockpot. Melt the butter, and when it’s all the way melted, add in the bag ten-ounce bag of marshmallows. I pretty much stir the entire time until they are melted, which does take a few minutes. So, have your coffee, water, wine, or drink of choice nearby! Once they are melted, I thrown in about 6 to 8 large marshmallows and allow them to semi-melt. This creates pockets of marshmallowey goodness. This is seriously my fav. You don’t have to add those in, but it really elevates the rice krispie treats to a whole new level.
And because Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, I threw some pink sprinkles in there. If you would like to add some sprinkles to yours, just add them in when you add the cereal to the marshmallow mixture. This is a such a cute treat for a baby shower, or a kid’s birthday party.
Once you fold the cereal into the marshmallow mixture, transfer the mixture to a baking dish and allow them to cool for an hour before cutting. Pull the foil up and cut them into squares. So good!! Hope you enjoy!!
